Corbusier Revisited
For the Exhibition, we created a accompanying edition of a magazine "Corbusier Revisited". It featured a selection of the images created within the project. It is based on the Weissenhof Estate, commonly known as the Weissenhofsiedlung in Stuttgart, Germany. It was first published and shown at the opening of the exhibition CORBUSIER REVISITED in May 2016 at the Weissenhofwerkstatt, Mies van der Rohe House in Stuttgart.
Every handmade edition contains a signed, high-pigment-ink Munken C-print of the architecture series for the CORBUSIER REVISITED exhibition Weissenhofsiedlung, Stuttgart 2016. We first set foot on the Weissenhofsiedlung in June 2015. At the beginning we were mainly interested to learn more about this extraordinary housing exhibition in the South of Stuttgart and its so-called new architectural style. But it soon felt like we were only repeating what everyone already knew about this place: the functional forms, the use of colour and light within the Le Corbusier building.
That is why we decided to publish a selection of contact sheets in our magazine to visualize our process and perspective on the actual architecture. By focusing on a new approach which captures the architecture of Le Corbusier's duplex and gives the visitors a stage, we decided that this magazine does not solely illustrate the exterior appearance of the estate, but much rather points out our subjective experience and encounters during several visits at Le Corbusier's heritage.
